Postpartum baby shower from NYCC

This weekend our church -- New York City Church threw Ava and I a postpartum shower. I had never been to a baby shower where the baby was actually present. Lucy graciously hosted the soiree at her Tribeca apartment, it's always so nice to go to that part of the city and I love that it is so easy to find parking :)

It was so much fun Ava got lots of lovin' from all the ladies. Ava received so much great stuff. She got the pack 'n play that she has wanted since she was 3 days old. She hasn't stopped asking for it...yea, right! And she got lots of 6 to 9 month old clothing. I can't believe my baby will fit into those outfits, they look so big. She has promised me to stay little for as long as possible. Ava was so tired and full from all the cake. Here are a few pics - thanks Joy for taking all the great shots!!

p.s. I did not give my baby cake

One Month Old

Today Ava is one month old, she's a pound heavier and almost an inch longer then when she was first born. I can't believe it's already been a month - time sure does fly. She had her first play date today at the park but of course I forgot to bring the camera. Since the weather has warmed up we have been going outside a lot and she has loved it, I think we were both coming down with a touch of cabin fever. Here are a few more things Ava did today.

Chilled out on the boppy

Played in her bouncer

Took a nap on the couch

Sling Shots

Today I nestled Ava into her sling and we went to the city for a doctors appointment. She absolutely loves being in the sling, she falls right to sleep after a minute in it. She gets heavy after walking around with her in it for a few hours. While walking around at least two people asked me if there was a baby in there.

While at the doctors office she was sleeping but kept making these noises in her sleep, sometimes she would cry and then laugh. Everyone thought it was so cute...so did I.

Few of Ava's firsts

This weekend Ava got her first bath since her umbilical cord fell off. At first she seemed to like the warm water and enjoy the whole experience. Then we took her out of the water to dry her off and she screamed like I have heard before. Not sure if she was cold or wanted to get back in the water but she was not happy with us. She screamed so much she turned completely red, as you can tell from the picture.

Ava also had her first trip to church. She loved the music, probably because she recognized it from the womb and slept most of the time we were there. She woke up to eat and then went right back to sleep.

Our first family photo

Uncle Pete and Auntie Rosie came over for the evening and we were able to get a family photo in while they were here. It was nice to have company over and Ava received lots of attention while I was able to sit back and watch some television without a baby in my arms.
