The Highline Baby!!

Last Friday Joey and I played hookie from work and enjoyed the beautiful yet HOT day on The Highline - an elevated park on the West side spanning from The Meatpacking District to about 34th Street. We entered around 23rd Street. This was an old railway that used to bring cargo into Manhattan way back when. I'm so glad it has been restored and not torn down, it's beautiful with some great views of the city we love.

We are always taking these pictures of ourselves, just silly.

Check out the original tracks on The Highline, they left them.

Silly lovebirds./

Joey taking in the Highline.

This area, under the Highline, has beer on tap and various trucks to order food from.

This was just so crazy we had to stop and take a picture of it.   A crocheted shopping cart...really??

Yummy Italian bistro that had no diet coke, no skim milk and no decaf coffee.  Real Italians!!

Yet another picture of me with something in my mouth.  Organic ice cream...yes, please!

Summer Fun in the City

So far our summer in NYC has been fun-filled and HOT!! We try to be outdoors as much as possible in the warmer months but there were some days the heat was just unbearable.  There are tons of water parks all over the city so we hit a few up over the past month.  Our favorite one is by Chelsea Piers.

Cooling off with a yummy treat.

Picnics in the park are always part of our summer.

He was not happy when the water suddenly came back on right after I took this his bottom lip quivered.

We made some groovy smoothies!!

Dressed Aiden like an old man.

He loves taking pictures of himself.

On the 100+ degrees we opted for the AC and played indoors.

Dessert and television, fa-get-about-it!

Fighting over toys, their favorite pastime.

Ahhhh, sleeping baby.  Life is good!

First Day of Summer Camp

Before we left for Florida we bought Ava a scooter but decided to give it to her after we got back because there was just no time to take her out to ride it.  The day before Ava starts summer camp we decide to take her out on her new scooter and she does great.  We took her to some black top and let her go, she had a blast.  She asked us if she could ride it back home and we thought sure why not, she's all padded up, what could go wrong...

As we round the corner to our house she falls off the moving scooter and her face - forehead, nose and upper lip - scrape the pavement.  The helmet was no good at protecting her face.

This is the day after the accident, it scabbed up pretty good but was thankfully gone within the week.  I felt horrible for her having to be in a new place and meet new friends with a booboo on her face but she did great and absolutely loves camp.  She comes home and talks our ears off about all the fun she had with her friends.
