Little Miss Sunshine

On Saturday we had plans to go to the beach but after a late night on Friday in the city and a 2 hour nap it got too late to head to the beach so we packed some lunch and headed to Flushing Meadows Park because the weather was beautiful! Little did we know they were having Kid's Day at Arthur Ashe Stadium where the U.S. Open is held and the park was packed. We hung out there most of the day, Ava loved the sunshine and breeze, she would squeal when the trees would sway in the wind, she really enjoys being outdoors.

We got some great pictures of her as she has started to laugh at everything. When she was on Joey's shoulders she kept putting her mouth on his head and soon daddy had saliva all in his hair but he din't seem to mind. You may recognize the unisphere from the show, "The King of Queens" opening credits. It's also the park where New York's World Fair was held in the 40's and 60's.

My little frog

On Friday I picked Ava up from Lela's, she was all dressed up and ready to go to the city for our small group gathering at Max Brenner's in Union Square. I put Ava in the Yamo, which she absolutely loves. Joey and I call her our sappito (little frog in spanish) because she looks like a little frog in there and now that she is starting to teeth, her tongue goes in and out of her mouth which makes her look like a frog even more.

BBQ in Brooklyn

After church on Sunday we headed to one of our favorite areas in New York -- Park Slope, Bklyn. It's such a great area that we actually considered moving there but then we found out I was pregnant and it put things on hold. The pastor that married Joey and I back in 2001 invited us to a bbq at his house. It was perfect outside, not as hot as it usually is in August. We fired up the grill, ate, played with Ava, ate some more and had great conversation.

Ava was a hit with her cute new outfit (thanks Sandy!!) and her high pitched screams. She would get so excited that she just screams, it's quite cute. She's starting to grab everything like my hair, the food on my plate and her new favorite...Bailey's ears. Here are a few snapshots from our afternoon. I need to get a good family picture up as I realized we don't have many of those since we are always focused on capturing Ava's every moment.

Just because

This was just such a cute picture I had to post it. Ava makes the cutest expressions lately and while she loves the camera she is not a fan of the flash. We have so many pictures of her squinting and closing her big blue eyes.

Summer fun in NYC

In New York City people don't just go to the beach...they join beach clubs!! Our friends are members and they graciously invited us to join them this past weekend. We had such a good time hanging out with them. The kids played in the pool, the water was still a little too cold for Ava (and Mommy) but Isabella and Sofia loved it. Daddy hung out in the cabana with Ava most of the time while I tried to get some sun. There was this older lady in the cabana next to us and she would come over to chat and Ava would laugh hysterically at her, it cracked us all up, I've never seen her laugh like that before. Afterwards, we headed into town and had dinner in a cute little beach town then headed home for the night.

Are we really going to the beach??

Daddy this lady is crackin me up!!

Is she for real???

Isabella and Sofia getting ready to hit the pool again

Uhhh, daddy you're blocking my sun

Home Entertainment

These days there are so many things that parents buy to entertain their kids at home and I was always one that said I would never fall into the catagory of buying them all. While we haven't bought all of them, we've come pretty close. Ava loves all the toys we've bought her - except the swing!! Which was what I was told we would NEED for those sleepless night...but thankfully we didn't have too many of those. Our little girl is so much fun to be around she keeps us laughing, it's so neat to watch her grow, there is a new discovery everyday for her and us.
